The city of Braga will host, in 2024, the Conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network dedicated to the theme “20 years of UCCN: bringing youth to the table for the next decade”. The decision was announced last October 31, in the city of Santos, in Brazil, with Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, being the other city in the voting.
The theme demonstrates UNESCO’s concern for the involvement and participation of young people in the discussion about the cultural, creative and sustainable development of our cities.
Braga is part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) since 2017, in the area of Media Arts. The UCCN aims to promote cooperation between cities that adopt creativity as the main tool for sustainable urban development in its different dimensions: economic, social, cultural and environmental. The network is currently composed of 295 cities and this number is expected to exceed 350 by 2024.
