The project bYou and MILObs Observatory, at the University of Minho, organized a national contest to celebrate the Carnation Revolution, also known as the 25th of April, when the Estado Novo authoritarian government was overthrown. The national contest aimed at celebrating this important event has recently finished its first stage. March 31st was the deadline for participants to submit their sound productions and videos. After completion of the first phase of the contest, we present the initial results.
In total, we have received 129 submissions, 19 of which were sound productions and 110 in video format. Participants were divided into two groups, one for young people between 6 and 12 years old and the second group, aged between 13 and 18 years old. Most submissions were from young people in the second group (109), in contrast to 20 from the first. Sound and video productions arrived from all over the country (Mainland Portugal and both Autonomous Regions), with emphasis on the regions of Lisbon and Tejo Valley (50 submissions), Northern region (27) and Central region (15).
For each group, the three best works will be chosen and rewarded with Gift Cards, made available by Sonae Sierra, the entity that supports the contest:
- Group 1:
- Prize: vouchers worth €120
- Prize: vouchers worth €90
- Prize: vouchers worth €60
- Group 2:
